Athletics

Athletics is an essential part of our students' daily lives, instilling not only healthy behaviors towards physical fitness, but healthy attitudes towards competition — learning how to win and lose.

Beginning in Junior Kindergarten, our students participate in daily Physical Education classes, participating in fun games like "Snake in the Grass" that promote movement and develop key listening and motor skills. As they move into the Lower School grades, our students begin to stretch further physically and competitively as they learn to play traditional team sports such as soccer, basketball, field hockey, and baseball. By the time they reach fourth and fifth grade, our students are transferring the athletic skills learned in daily PE classes to weekly interscholastic play against other schools.

Students in the Middle School participate in a daily athletics program, choosing from multiple offerings across three seasons.

Meadowbrook's leveled team structure provides students with support from coaches and teammates, helping each student gain the confidence to try, the thrill of success, and lessons learned from failure. At Meadowbrook, athletic success is measured by more than athletic achievement, it is measured by spirit. Our "Spirit Cup" Awards recognize sportsmanship and celebrate the student whose efforts inspire the team. Appropriately, Spirit Cups are chosen by players.

Meadowbrook proudly hosts a series of tournaments throughout the year, including a sixth grade soccer tournament, sixth grade girls' and boys' basketball tournaments, and an eighth grade boys' basketball tournament.
