Learning Skills
Each and every child is unique in their interests, how they express themselves creatively and, of course, how they learn. At Meadowbrook, we recognize the individual learning styles of our students. Learning skills are constantly evaluated by our teachers and we quickly communicate any concerns to parents and our academic support services. To that end, our Learning Lab is available, at an additional cost, to provide students in need with academic support by trained reading specialists.
The Meadowbrook Learning Lab:
- Provides remediation of reading and related language issues
- Provides support in organizational skills, time management, and study skills and strategies
- Provides writing skills support
- Provides academic support in all areas (emphasis is on reading/language)
- Refers students for comprehensive evaluations if needed
- Advocates for classroom modifications
- Acts as an in-school resource for faculty and parents in identifying and supporting learning style differences
Meadowbrook can also contract outside professionals to provide the following services:
- Speech/articulation therapy
- Extensive language evaluations
- Articulation and language screenings
- Language skills development below the child's grade level
- Occupational or physical therapy
- Support for social/pragmatic skills
- Provides faculty in-service workshops regarding learning differences
- WISC-IV testing and other testing
